WESTCLIFFE, Colo. (AP) - Ground crews are looking for a small plane that disappeared over the southern Colorado mountains, but bad weather has forced a search plane to turn back.
The search entered its second day on Monday.
The single-engine, six seat Piper Malibu took of from the Phoenix area on Sunday bound for Pueblo, Colo. The plane disappeared at about 2:45 p.m. Sunday after sending a distress signal when it was over the Sangre de Cristo mountains about 50 miles west of Pueblo.
The single-engine, six-seat Piper Malibu is registered to a Waterloo, Iowa, address. Authorities don't know how many people were on board or release any names.
The Civil Air Patrol says three fixed-wing airplane crews and an Army helicopter are available for the search if weather permits.
