The family of an Iowa woman shot and killed by a Texas doctor is seeking money from his estate for burial expenses, hospital costs and the value of her estate had she lived.
Des Moines attorney George LaMarca told the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier on Monday that he filed the petition in Buchanan County District Court.
The lawsuit follows the March 21 killing of 22-year-old Lindsay Nichols by Dr. Timothy Roses, a 44-year radiologist from Plano, Texas. Nichols had previously had a relationship with Roses, who was married.
Roses shot her in front of her new boyfriend's home in Jesup, near Waterloo.
The lawsuit seeks damages for several issues, including pain and suffering, burial expenses, hospital treatment and the value of Nichols' estate had she lived out her life.
