Iowa City police have arrested a sixth suspect in connection to an April 12 home invasion - a person police say matches the description of the leader in the break-in.
DeSean V. Lipscomb, 19, of Anchorage, Alaska, was arrested May 14 for first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and riot.
Police said the residents of the home, in the 200 block of Haywood Drive, were sleeping when the home's sliding glass door was smashed open at 3:02 a.m. and three men and one woman entered.
The suspects were armed with sticks, and one of the men, who appeared to be the leader, was wearing a white hockey mask, police said. The man wearing the mask said he had a gun and would kill the residents.
The group then ordered the residents to lie face down on the floor and then took a plasma TV, a PlayStation 3 game console and other items. The residents told police they believed one of the men had a gun, and that they feared for their lives.
Samantha Lynn M. Robinson-Ricks, 19, of St. Paul, Minn., was arrested Friday and faces charges of first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery, and riot. Tyler D. Olesen, 20, of Cedar Rapids, Randon J. Hill, 20, of Marshalltown, Joshua B. Baker, 21, of Coggon, and Kristina M. Ewing, 18, of Waukon, were previously charged in the incident.
According to police reports, Hill was a former roommate of one of the victims and was evicted from the Cedar Rapids home they shared.
After the eviction, the robbery victim moved Hill's unclaimed property to a new home. Hill told officers he asked Olesen and three other people go to the new home and “threaten or intimidate” the victims into returning Hill's property.
Lipscomb was transferred to the Johnson County Jail on Wednesday afternoon and is being held on a $15,000 cash-only bond.
