Sinclair demolition gets under way

This morning, the D.W. Zinser company started the three- to six-month process of clearing the site of the 100-year-old Sinclair meatpacking plant.
Most of this first morning of demolition was spent clearing an area to gain access to an outbuilding that was heavily damaged by last December's fire.
Crews on the scene say that it will take a few days to get trucks and demolition equipment in a synchronized pattern to have maximum efficiency.
Officials plan to raze the main part of the plant in a few days. They are being careful not to damage the historic smoke stack on the rear of the property until its future is determined. They will use a combination of a wrecking ball, steel shears and an excavator in the process.
