New signs throughout Linn County are reminding drivers and bicyclists to share the road.
It's part of an effort by members of the Hawkeye Bicycle Association. The group raised $4,500 to put up the signs at 18 sites around the county.
Lisa Paulos, a member of the group, said she hopes the signs remind both drivers and bicyclists of their rights on the roads.
“All vehicles have the same rights and responsibilities,” Paulos said. “That's why we like the Share the Road signs, because the roadway can be shared.”
The group selected sites for the signs based on bicycle traffic and visibility, and the county Secondary Roads Department helped with installation.
The most recent signs went up near two intersections along Ely Road at C Street SW and Wright Brothers Boulevard.
