Show choir competition season kicks off Saturday

MARION - It'll be enough glitz and glamour, worthy of, well, a supernova at Linn-Mar High School's annual show choir competition of the same name on Jan. 16.

Supernova 2010 kicks off the competitive season locally for area show choirs at Linn-Mar High School, 3111 N. 10th St.

Cedar Rapids Washington's Vivace will start the day with the first performance at 10 a.m. The daytime competition will continue through 5 p.m., with daytime awards at 5:45 p.m. Finals begin at 7 p.m. with an exhibition performance by Linn-Mar's varsity group, 10th Street Edition. The finals award ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:45 p.m.

Admission for all-day is $12; finals only is $10.

Show choirs performing are: Cedar Rapids Washington Momentum, Celebration and Vivace; Cedar Rapids Kennedy Happiness, Inc., Protégé and Chanteurs; Urbandale Studio and Vitality; Bemidji Vocalmotive; Totino-Grace Company of Singers; SF Washington Classic Connection and Waterloo West West Side Story.
