Semi hits, kills woman walking on Highway 30
LINN COUNTY, Iowa - A woman died after being hit by a semi-trailer near Palisades-Kepler State Park late Wednesday night.
A release from the Linn County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded around 9:30 p.m. to the eastbound lanes of Highway 30, near the park's entrance west of Mount Vernon.
Investigators determined the woman was walking in the eastbound lanes when she was hit. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
Authorities did not identify the victim because family members had not yet been notified, according to the release.
The sheriff's office is continuing to investigate the crash.
