On Tuesday afternoon, a three-vehicle crash on Highway 1 sent three people to the hospital, caused a small fuel leak and closed part of the highway for about 90 minutes.
A Linn County sheriff's deputy said the man driving the pickup suffered non-life threatening injuries, and two shaken up teenage girls were taken to a hospital by a parent after the collision about five miles southwest of Mt. Vernon on Highway 1.
A white pickup truck driven by the man who was injured crossed the center line of Highway 1 and struck a semi truck that was carrying Roberts milk. A trailing Jeep Wrangler, with the two girls inside then truck the semi, the sheriff's deputy said.
The collision punctured a few fuel tanks in the milk truck, causing a small spill on the road's shoulder. A hazmat team quickly responded to clean up the spill.
The deputy said he did not know what caused the truck to cross the center line. The incident is still under investigation.
