Security officers suing Per Mar for regular pay, OT
Trish Mehaffey Nov. 16, 2009 12:12 pm
Two Newton Per Mar Security officers filed a class action lawsuit in U.S. District Court against the company last week for wage violations.
Eugene Hansen and Mike Davis, both hourly uniformed security officers, claim they worked without pay in one or more situations including:
-Working before the start of a shift by checking out equipment, preparing paperwork and reviewing post orders.
-Staying over the end of their shift working on an assignment or waiting as a holdover for the next scheduled security officer to arrive.
-Complying with dress code policy by shining boots and other leather items, cleaning and pressing shirts, pants, jackets, hats and badges.
The lawsuit contends the company didn't accurately record these hours and the officers were deprived of regular pay and overtime.
Per Mar didn't return a phone message Monday.
Hansen and Davis ask Per Mar for all wages owed, any interest on those wages and to pay all costs and attorney's fees incurred for this claim.
