Second man faces arson charge after fire at Hiawatha apartment

A second man has been charged after an apartment fire that displaced 12 residents in Hiawatha last week.
Paul J. Opperman, 36, of 3813 F Ave. NE in Cedar Rapids, has been charged with first-degree arson after the fire last Tuesday evening at 285 Robins Rd.
Authorities said the fire broke out in apartment B6 and indicated last week that methamphetamine was being made there. No one was injured in the fire.
The man who lives at the apartment, 40-year-old Andrew C. Damisch, was charged with first-degree arson after his arrest last week.
Both men are being held at the Linn County Jail, with bond set at $50,000.
Police declined to release any other details about the incident.
