School's out early for Vernon Middle School

Students at Vernon Middle School in Marion Independent School district will get to start their summer vacation a little earlier than the rest of the kids in the district.
Vernon Middle School is closing for the summer one day early due to a "change in the construction schedule," according to an administrator.
The school, which is scheduled to be demolished over the summer break, experienced some "unexpected demolition" today, according to Superintendent Sarah Pinion. Around 1:00 this afternoon, a roof in a classroom on the third floor caved in.
No one was in the classroom, and no one was hurt. But administrators decided to close down one day ahead of schedule, just to be safe.
