Santorum returning to Iowa for Coralville, Iowa City events

Iowa caucus winner Rick Santorum will be back in Iowa in July .

Santorum, who won the first-in-the-nation precinct caucuses by 34-vote margin after the state Republican Party spent two weeks certifying the votes, will be in Iowa City July 10 and Coralville July 11. He also won in 10 other states.

Santorum will do a “thank you” lunch July 10 at Bella Sala in Iowa City. He'll have a similar event July 11 in Windsor Heights.

Also on July 11, Santorum is scheduled to speak on ethical stem cell research at the BioVenture Building in the Oakdale Research Park. Also on the program are Steve Scheffler and Kim Lehman, Iowa's members of the Republican National Committee, and Bob Vander Plaats, president of The Family Leader.

Santorum is no stranger to Iowa having spent 106 days here while campaigning for the GOP presidential nomination. Although he has left the race, Santorum has indicated he plans to remain active in politics. He has endorsed a number of candidates, including Republican Ben Lange, who is challenging Rep. Bruce Braley in Iowa's 1

District. That endorsement came through his new organization, Patriot Voices that Santorum describes as “a grassroots and online community… with a goal of 1 million voices united [to] transform the political landscape of our country.”

The wording of his luncheon invitation – “thank you for your continued support” - has sparked speculation Santorum may be thinking about another presidential campaign.

His Iowa trip is being coordinated through the Red, White and Blue Fund, a super PAC headed by Iowa GOP activist Nick Ryan.
