CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Runners geared up early this morning to take part in the 4th annual Muddy Monster run across Seminole Valley Park.
Runners were able to choose from a wide variety of activities. There was a 15k (9.03 mile run), a 5k run/walk (3.1 miles), a Monster Mile for teenagers, and the Lil' Monster run for children.
This year, over 600 runners ran to achieve personal goals. Although runners were given awards in different categories at the end of the run.
Before starting the race, runners were given a chip to attach to their shoes in order to keep track of their time during the race. This helped benefit each individual runner as well as competitors to see where they placed amongst their peers.
Bob Andresen, the race director is pleased to see such a great turnout as well as how many people were able to get into the Halloween spirit, ” We like to see people of all walks of life come out here run, have some fun, and be competitive.”
In order to get into the holiday spirit, runners had the opportunity to wear their Halloween costumes while running. Although this made the run difficult, runners and fans enjoyed seeing the different costumes.
