Rue21 closing Tanger Outlet, Cedar Falls stores

Rue21 will close its location at Tanger Outlets in Williamsburg as the retailer shutters about 400 stores.

The company confirmed the closings in an April 15 Facebook post and on its website, calling the move 'a difficult but necessary decision.” Associated Press later reported the closures would affect 400 locations.

Rue21 currently operates 20 stores in Iowa, according to its website. In addition to the Tanger Outlets closure, the company will close a location at East Viking Plaza in Cedar Falls and one store in Ankeny.

Rue21 did not provide a schedule for when the stores will close.

A location in Mason City already is listed as permanently closed.

Stores at Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids and Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville will not be affected.
