ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Adam Gaudette had a pair of goals, and Ryan Larkin made 27 saves for his first United States Hockey League shutout as the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders topped Team USA, 6-0, Friday night.
The Riders (14-2) again play the United States National Team Development Program's U-16 team Saturday night.
After a 0-0 first period, Cedar Rapids potted four goals in the second to pull away. Ross Colton scored on the power play at 3:57, then Jiri Fronk scored with the man advantage at nine minutes.
Gaudette's first goal at 13:27 was followed 18 seconds later by a goal from Hugh McGing. Gaudette scored again early in the third period, with Andrew Oglevie capping off the night with a goal at the 15:27 mark.
The RoughRiders were outshot in the first period by a 13-3 margin, but outshot Team USA the final two periods, 27-14.
