FARGO, N.D. - The first half of this grueling road trip turned out just fine Thursday night for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
Cal Burke had a go-ahead goal midway through the first period, and the Riders went on to post a 4-1 win over the Fargo Force at Scheels Arena. Luke Morgan, Hugh McGing and Charlie Michalowski (empty net) also had goals for Cedar Rapids, which is 4-0 in the early going.
Ben Blacker got the goaltending win, making 33 saves and getting beat only by Fargo's Michael Graham on a first-period power play.
The RoughRiders were expected to travel part way to Kearney, Neb., after Thursday night's game, then finish off the 538-mile trip for their game Friday night at Tri-City.
