CEDAR RAPIDS — It was a really good 2015-16 season for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, and that was reflected on the All-United States Hockey League team.
Winger Ross Colton and defenseman Jack Ahcan were honored as first-team picks Wednesday, with goaltender Ben Blacker a second-teamer.
Colton set a franchise record with 35 goals, second in the USHL to Muskegon's Rem Pitlick. The USHL Forward of the Year and Player of the Year had 46.
A University of Vermont signee, Colton added 31 assists.
Ahcan was named USHL Defenseman of the Year earlier this week. The St. Cloud State signee led league defensemen with 14 goals, adding 30 assists.
Blacker stepped up when teammate Ryan Larkin was lost early in the season to an injury, playing in 50 regular-season games. The Milton, Ontario, resident and Western Michigan signee finished second in the league with a 2.24 goals against average and .926 save percentage.
Joining Colton, Ahcan and Pitlick on the All-USHL first team were Youngstown forward Cameron Morrison, Bloomington defenseman Jeremy Davies and Green Bay goalie Adam Huska. With Blacker on the second team were Lincoln forward Tanner Laczynski, Fargo forward Denis Smirnov, Dubuque forward Nathan Sucese, Tri-City defenseman Mattias Gorannson and Lincoln defenseman Trevor Hamilton.
Third-teamers were forwards Parker Tuomie (Sioux Falls), Ludvig Hoff (Lincoln) and Sam McCormick (Waterloo), defensemen Cam Lee (Green Bay) and Keegan Ford (Dubuque) and goaltender Steffanos Lekkas (Sioux Falls).
All of the teams were selected via vote of the USHL's general managers.
