CEDAR RAPIDS- Hundreds of Rockwell-Collins workers in one company division will be on the move to new office space in downtown Cedar Rapids soon.
The company announced plans last December to transfer approximately 400 workers in the E-Business division to vacant space in the Town Centre building on Third Avenue S.E. Remodeling was started almost immediately on the floors that the new workers will occupy.
On Tuesday, trucks downtown were unloading modular office furniture and Rockwell-Collins officials said that was one of the final tasks before workers begin the move downtown.
The company said the first group of E-Business employees making the move will start relocating the week of March 5
In December, company officials said the move away from the Rockwell-Collins main campus to downtown will create room for new engineers the company plans to hire in the future. During the announcement, Cedar Rapids Mayor Ron Corbett called the news one of the more significant announcements of 2010.
