Rockwell Collins has been selected by airlines in Algeria and Mexico to provide avionics equipment for new Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
Air Algerie, the national airline of Algeria, will purchase a comprehensive Rockwell Collins avionics suite for 13 new aircraft, including three Airbus A330s and 10 Boeing 737s. Mexico-based VivaAerobus has selected Rockwell Collins to provide the MultiScan ThreatTrack weather radar and multi-mode receiver for 52 new Airbus A320 aircraft.
Rockwell Collins' new MultiScan ThreatTrack weather radar provides capabilities for assessing lightning, hail and turbulence.
'With MultiScan Threat- Track, pilots will benefit from the most advanced technology for avoiding turbulence and other damaging weather threats and be better equipped to precisely navigate challenging approaches,” said Claude Alber, vice president and managing director, Europe, the Middle East and Africa for Rockwell Collins.
Air Algerie's new Boeing 737 aircraft will include Rockwell Collins' Link 2000+ solution to comply with Eurocontrol's Controller Pilot Data Link Communications airspace requirement.
Also included in Air Algerie's selection are Rockwell Collins' automatic detection finder and distance measuring equipment.
Other Rockwell Collins avionics systems selected by VivaAerobus include the ADF-900 Automatic Direction Finder, DME-2100 Distance Measuring Equipment, VHF-2100 Transceiver and VOR-900 Omnidirectional Radio.
