Residents escape Iowa City apartment fire

IOWA CITY - No one was injured after a fire broke out early this morning at an Iowa City apartment building.
Iowa City firefighters were called at 3:17 a.m. to 434 S. Johnson St., and when they arrived they found fire coming from the porch and front door of the structure.
Fire crews were able to get the fire under control in 20 minutes. The fire caused an estimated $75,000 in damage.
All occupants were evacuated. A smoke detector alerted one of them to the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
