An investigator who interviewed Mark Becker after the shooting death of Aplington-Parkersburg football coach Ed Thomas says Becker admitted to shooting Thomas.
Division of Criminal Investigation agent Chris Callaway testified Tuesday that Becker admitted to shooting Thomas because Thomas was a "devil tyrant" who was trying to suffocate him. He also told investigators he saw the devil in the interview room.
A recording of the hour-long interview Callaway had with Becker was played during the trial's second day in a Butler County courtroom in Allison.
Becker is charged with first-degree murder in the June 2009 slaying of his former football coach.
Becker, who recounted on the tape the shooting in an eerie monotone, has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
