CEDAR RAPIDS - A Reinbeck man, indicted last week in federal court on child pornography charges, was released with conditions Monday pending trial.
Michael Cottrell, 43, was charged with one count each of receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography. The indictment was unsealed Friday in U.S. District Court.
The indictment alleges Cottrell received and possessed child pornography between 2012 and 2014.
If convicted, Cottrell faces a mandatory five years, and up to 40 years, in federal prison. He would also face a fine of $500,000 and at least five years and up to life of supervised release following any prison time.
U.S. Magistrate Jon Scoles released Cottrell with GPS monitoring and other special conditions. His trial is set for Oct. 26.
