Pulitzer-winning columnist, author Friedman to speak at Cornell

MOUNT VERNON - Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist and author Thomas Friedman shares his insights on 'The Big Trends Shaping the World Today: Economics, Technology, and Geopolitics” during a visit Thursday evening to Cornell College.
His lecture is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the King Chapel on the campus at 600 First St. SW, Mount Vernon.
It is free to the public and will be followed by a book signing in the Cole Library.

Winner of three Pulitzer Prizes, Friedman has covered stories from around the globe for the New York Times since 1981. In awarding Friedman his third Pulitzer Prize, the Pulitzer Board cited his 'clarity of vision, based on extensive reporting, in commenting on the worldwide impact of the terrorist threat.”
His next book, 'Thank You For Being Late: An Optimist's Guide to Thriving in the Age of Accelerations,” is to be released Nov. 22.
Friedman is the best-selling author of 'The World is Flat” and is renowned for his direct reporting and sophisticated analysis of complex issues facing the world.
'The World is Flat” sold more than 4 million copies and won the inaugural Financial Times and Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award.
This is the seventh lecture funded by Cornell's Delta Phi Rho Centennial Endowment.
Previous speakers were presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin; author Bob Woodward; CNN's Fareed Zakaria; ABC's George Stephanopoulos; former presidential adviser David Gergen; political strategist Karl Rove; and former White House press secretary Dee Dee Myers.
