UPDATED: Power was fully restored around 11:45 a.m. today after an outage that affected more than 1,500 residents of Linn County this morning.
Alliant spokesman Scott Drzycimski said crews did not find the exact cause of the outage. He said they suspect that something was on a power line for a short time.
At 11:30 a.m., the Alliant website indicated 1,553 customers were in the dark. Police radio traffic also indicated that the stoplights at Edgewood Road and Wilson Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids were not working.
Drzycimski said the outage started at 10:44 a.m. in southwest Cedar Rapids. He said the impacted area was mostly between West Post Road and Wiley Boulevard, along Highway 151 and near Westdale Mall.
Crews responded to a substation in the area and found a breaker open, but have not identified an official cause, Drzycimski said.
1,500 Alliant customers are without power in Linn County.
