Power outages minimal; most resolved

Officials at Alliant Energy say power is back on for almost everyone in Eastern Iowa after the lights went out briefly this morning.

“We've got nothing of any consequence locally,” said Scott Drzycimski, a spokesman for Alliant. “We've quieted down.”

Drzycimski added that while power went down in some places earlier this morning, the warmer temperatures have helped crews repair the lines and power is back on for all but a handful of their customers.

“It's warmed up enough that the ice is off the lines,” Drzycimski said.

The HyVee Drug Store, 2405 Mount Vernon Rd. SE, shut down for a few minutes when the power went down there a little before 9 a.m. and residents along East Post Road SE reported their electricity was gone until around 9:30 a.m.
