A portion of the Cedar Valley Nature Trail south of Center Point is to be closed for the next few months for paving.
The portion of the trail between Schultz Road and Iowa Street is to close Monday for concrete and asphalt paving, drainage improvements and seal coating, according to the Linn County Conservation Department.
The section of trail is to reopen in mid-November. Further work to pave the length of trail from Iowa Street through Center Point and to Grubbs Creek Bridge could take place this fall.
The paving project is estimated to cost $1.2 million.
The old train depot in Center Point has been restored to serve as a museum as well as a rest stop for people using the 52-mile Cedar Valley Nature Trail. (Gazette file photo)
