Police say Iowa City man had sex with 13-year-old girl

An Iowa City man is in custody after police say he had sexual relations on multiple occasions with a 13-year-old girl.

According to criminal complaints, 22-year-old Juan Vazquez-Perez, of 1205 Laura Drive No. 85, was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of four counts of third-degree sexual abuse.

Police said the alleged victim told officers she had intercourse two times at Vazquez-Perez's residence in mid-January. The girl allegedly told police she informed Vazquez-Perez she was 13 at the time.

Vasquez-Perez then allegedly participated in sex acts with the victim after she turned 14 on two separate occasions; March 7 and March 12.

Police say Vazquez-Perez admitted he had sex with the girl.

Vazquez-Perez is being held at the Johnson County Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.

Third-degree sexual abuse is a Class C felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $1,000 fine.
