Weekend break-ins at a Marion bowling alley and YMCA are most likely connected, police said Monday.
Glass doors were damaged at Marion Bowl and YMCA early Saturday morning, police said. A person driving by the bowling alley reported the damage around 6:30 a.m. Police arrived to find the place ransacked and computer monitors damaged.
Eric Wink, who owns the bowling alley, told SourceMedia Group security cameras showed three male suspects. The next night, he said a security officer saw men approaching the business with crowbars and called police, he said.
A footchase involving a K-9 dog did not result in any arrests, police said. Police said they would review the security camera footage to see if anyone can be identified.
So far, police have not identified any suspects. Lt. Scott Elam said his hunch is that the same people burglarized both businesses.
“We don't know for sure, but they're not that far apart from each other,” Elam said. “This type of thing doesn't usually happen once in a night, let alone twice in the same night.”
