Police: Man breaks through door for candy

Police say an Illinois man forced his way into an empty apartment complex - to  nibble on  some candy.

Iowa City Police arrested Cory G. Johnson,  26, of Rock Island, for third-degree burglary late Friday afternoon.

Officers  responded to a burglary in process report in the 300 block of Haywoord Dr., Iowa City, after a neighbor called reporting that the door  of  an upstairs unit was being kicked in repeatedly.

Upon arrival, police found a broken door  frame and door, that looked forced open. Johnson was inside  the apartment, appearing confused and exhausted, officers said.

Police said the resident of the apartment returned a short time later, she said she didn't think any items were taken but instead believed the accused may have eaten some candy she  left out on her coffee table.
