Police: Iowa City woman sexually assaulted in home invasion

IOWA CITY - The Iowa City Police Department is investigating a reported home invasion and sexual assault in the Grant Wood neighborhood.
According to a media release from the Iowa City Police Department, a woman reported the assault took place in the early morning on Saturday in southeast Iowa City.
Iowa City Police say the alleged incident appears to have been 'a random attack” by a suspect with whom the woman had no previous ties. Iowa City residents, especially those who live near the Grant Wood neighborhood, are urged to be vigilant, according to the release.
No other information is being given at this time because the investigation is ongoing, according to the release.
Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at (319) 358-8477. All calls are confidential and the caller's identity does not need to be revealed for them to collect a reward.
