Police investigating home invasion, sexual assault near Daniels Park

Cedar Rapids police are seeking a man who sexually assaulted a woman in her home Thursday afternoon.

The man forced his way into the house along Oakland Road NE across from Daniels Park about 5 p.m., according to police Sgt. Cristy Hamblin. After the assault, the man left in the woman's car, a white 1998 Buick Century with Iowa license plates 133HKW.

The victim was released from a local hospital after treatment for her injuries, Hamblin said.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Daniels Park neighborhood around 5 p.m. Thursday to call them at 286-5491 or the CrimeStoppers line at 800-272-7463.

A similar incident occurred along Oakland Road about two blocks north of Thursday's incident, Hamblin said. Both cases remain under investigation.
