Police investigating attempted robbery in Iowa City

Police were called to the 400 block of East Jefferson Street early Wednesday on an attempted robbery involving a gun.

The victim told officers three men approached him and demanded money around 1:30 a.m. One of them had a handgun. Police said the victim refused to give them money, and the suspects ran off in a northerly direction.

The victim was not injured.

The suspects are described as black males in their late teens. One of the suspects wore a red, short-sleeved polo shirt and the other wore a black T-shirt. The victim could not describe the clothing of the third suspect.
