Police are investigating a report from a 73-year-old man that he was pushed down and robbed in an alley in southwest Cedar Rapids late Monday.
Gary Cronbaugh told police he was walking home from the library between 20th and 21st avenues near the Westdale Court Apartments around 10 p.m. when two men approached him from behind. He said the men pushed him down and kicked his leg before taking his wallet and hat, according to the police report.
The men ran east from the alley. Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said only a small amount of cash was in the wallet.
The suspects, believed to be between the ages of 18 and 25, were wearing old, dark clothing, police said. Cronbaugh did not suffer injuries that required medical treatment, police said.
No arrests have been made. An investigation was continuing.
