CEDAR RAPIDS - Officials are investigating an armed robbery at a Casey's in southwest Cedar Rapids.
Three squad cars were on the scene at Casey's General Store, 130 41st Ave. Drive SW, near 11 p.m. Wednesday, investigating reports that two black males, each carrying a handgun, robbed the store. Officials said the suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash.
Both suspects were described as in their twenties, slender and around 5-foot-9. One suspect wore a white hooded sweat shirt, a white bandanna and a baseball cap, while the other suspect had on a blue hooded sweat shirt and a gray bandanna. Officials were not able to confirm the make, color, or model of their vehicle.
None of the four employees inside the Casey's was harmed.
Though an officer on the scene said he did not recall any previous reports of robberies at the store recently, he said he did remember a call for a burglary at the store a year and a half ago.
Signs on the store's door clearly indicate the cash register contains less than $50 in cash. The lights in the store were off when officers arrived, though it's unclear whether it was closed for the night.
Authorities on scene were collecting evidence and said they will be reviewing surveillance tape from the store.
No arrests had been made as of Thursday morning.
