WILLIAMSBURG — A former maintenance worker at a Williamsburg hotel is accused of firing a shot at his former boss during a dispute over the weekend.
Roy Lee Boughner, 48, of Ainsworth, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, after authorities say he shot at Yule Park.
Boughner and Park were having a dispute in the rear of the hotel off Interstate 80, which Park owns, just before noon Saturday. Boughner fired a 9-millimeter semi-automatic handgun at Park from a range of 10 to 15 feet, the Iowa County Sheriff's Office reported.
Boughner's shot missed. When he tried to fire again, the gun jammed, allowing Park to escape uninjured, the sheriff's office said.
Law enforcement officers took Boughner into custody within minutes of the shooting. He was being held in the Iowa County Jail on $25,000 cash bond. Attempted murder is a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
Park, who bought the hotel in July and moved to Iowa from California with his family, declined to be interviewed about the incident.
