CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man faces multiple charges for allegedly forcing himself into a woman's apartment and sexually assaulting her.
According to a Linn County Attorney's Office criminal complaint, a resident of a Cedar Rapids apartment complex at 66th Avenue SW reported that on April 17, Sekou Keita, who also lives in the building, forced his way into her apartment when she was opening the door to let herself in.
Keita allegedly sexually assaulted the woman and prevented her from leaving the apartment, according to documents.
Police say Keita eventually left the apartment, which allowed the woman to leave and flag down a passing police car. She was taken to the hospital and later identified Keita as the assailant, police said.
Keita told police he was invited into the apartment, but no sex act occurred between the two, according to documents.
Keita has been charged with first-degree burglary, false imprisonment and third-degree sexual abuse.
