Police arrest teen accused of firing gunshots near apartment building

CEDAR RAPIDS - Police arrested a teenager after gunshots damaged a car near an apartment complex Thursday evening.
No injuries were reported when multiple shots were reported around 7 p.m. near Country Club View apartments, 330 29th St. Dr. SE. Police said an altercation in the parking lot preceded the gunshots. The gunshots shattered the windows on one car.
Robert L. M. Bates, 19, of 1504 Sixth Ave. SE, was arrested on suspicion of intimidation with a weapon.
Lt. Craig Furnish said Bates is accused of firing the gunshots. He said no other suspects are being sought in the case.
Bates was taken to the Linn County Jail.
