Podcast: 'On The Record' talks first annual Student Pledge Against Gun Violence
Trish Mehaffey Oct. 22, 2015 10:06 am
This week's On the Record talks about the first annual Student Pledge Against Gun Violence with guest Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Lightfoot. The U.S. Attorney's Office teamed up with other area law enforcement to participate in activities and events this week geared to get students talking about gun violence and what impact they can have in stopping the violence.
Each school planned activities that best fit the needs of the individual school. Washington High School students were addressed by a former student who was disabled as a result of gun violence.
Metro High School students read a gun violence statistic over the intercom during announcements and were asked to write essays about 'The rest of their lives,' for famous figures who had their lives cut short by gun violence, imagining what they could have accomplished.
On the Record is a weekly news podcast focusing on courts, crime trends and any legal issues of the day hosted by Trish Mehaffey and produced by Clare Murphy.
