Friday and Saturday, July 16 and 17
Think Woodstock, think Bonnaroo, but bring it down to a smaller scale and keep your clothes on. Grab your tickets and tents and head to Camp Euforia on the Hotz farmstead near Lone Tree, where camp founders Euforquestra will bring their “Afro-Caribbean-Barnyard-Funk” sounds back to their roots. The Iowa City band has migrated to Fort Collins, Colo., but is bringing some String Cheese Incident musicians home with them. Add in some Public Property, Heatbox, Chicago Afrobeat Project, Lubriphonic and a hoedown with the Henhouse Prowlers. You'll end up with a spin-art blend of jazz, funk, roots, psychedelic sounds, bluegrass, rock and world beats.
Camp Euforia
Various times, Friday and Saturday, Hotz farmstead, 5335 Utah Ave., near Lone Tree, $55 through www.midwestix.com or $75 at the gate, www.campeuforia.com
Iowa City Book Festival

The Iowa City Book Festival brings together book lovers and renowned authors, like Audrey Niffenegger (“The Time Traveler's Wife”), Jane Smiley (“Moo” and “A Thousand Acres”), David Rhodes (“Driftless”) and Jeffrey Zaslow (“The Girls from Ames”). In addition to author readings, there are children's activities, food and music.
