Pleasant Valley, Pella finish on top of final Gazette boys' basketball poll of season

CEDAR RAPIDS — It's Pleasant Valley and Pella.
Those are the two clubs that finish the regular season ranked first in Class 4A and 3A in The Gazette's final boys' basketball poll of 2015-16.
Pleasant Valley (20-1) jumped ahead of Des Moines Hoover after Hoover lost this past week to West Des Moines Dowling. The Huskies (19-2) are fourth, Dowling (18-3) third.
Iowa City West (17-4) went from third to second. West Des Moines Valley is fifth, Council Bluffs Lincoln sixth, Ankeny seventh, Cedar Falls eighth, Linn-Mar ninth and Des Moines North 10th.
PV's lone loss this season came by a point to Muscatine (59-58) on Feb. 9. North (16-5) is the lone ranked team in 4A who has to play a first-round substate game Monday night, that at home against Indianola.
The 3A tournament trail also begins Monday night, with every team in action. Pella (19-1) begins its tournament trail Monday night at home against Saydel.
The Dutch's only loss this season came to Valley.
Two-time defending champion Dubuque Wahlert (16-5) finishes the regular season ranked second, with Chariton third, Spirit Lake fourth and Harlan fifth.
