Parking in downtown Cedar Rapids next week? Plan ahead

Downtown Cedar Rapids parking ramps may be a bit crowded next week for two reasons:

• Volleyball - The state volleyball tournament will be held Wednesday through Saturday at the U.S. Cellular Center. Tournament participants park off-site, but more drivers than normal will be parking in the Five Seasons ramp. Those with monthly passes to the Five Seasons ramp have the option of using their passes to park at the Third Avenue or the Fourth Avenue parkades or in surface lots 9, 10 and 12 for those four days.
• Electrical work - On Monday and Tuesday, Alliant Energy will be working in the Third Avenue parkade, replacing temporary electric power with a permanent supply. The power will be off, meaning no lights or elevator service. People with parking passes for that ramp can still park there but are encouraged to use the Fourth Avenue parkade, the Five Seasons ramp or surface lots 9, 10 and 12 those two days. The Fourth Avenue ramp does not have elevator service.
