A former treasurer of the Iowa City Girls Softball Association was convicted of a lesser charge for embezzling nearly $30,000 from the organization. She set up a new account in an attempt to conceal the discrepancies and withdrawals of cash.
The discounts, agreed to after months of negotiations with drug manufacturers, range between 38% and 79% on the medication's list price, which is the cost of medication before discounts or rebates are applied — not the price people actually pay for prescriptions.

Custom Fitness, on Wilson Avenue in southwest Cedar Rapids, is suing the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals and Licensing. Also named as a defendant is Linn County, which is currently suing Custom Fitness over the company’s alleged refusal to comply with orders that the pool remain closed to protect the public health.
