MARION - Orscheln Farm and Home will close its store at 3275 Seventh Ave. in Marion sometime within the next three months.
The Moberly, Mo., family-owned retailer has begun a store closing sale to liquidate inventory. The store employs nine associates and they have been offered employment within other Orscheln Farm and Home locations.
“It was a hard decision to close this location as we have always enjoyed our relationship with the customers who shop in our Marion store.” said Stephen Chick, president of Orscheln Farm and Home. “Unfortunately, our lease is up and the current location no longer meets our business plan.”
Orscheln Farm and Home will continue to operate locations at 655 Hollywood Blvd. in Iowa City and 1607 Grandview Ave. in Muscatine. The 50-year-old company has 153 locations in the Midwest, including other Iowa stores in Boone, Centerville, Clarinda, Fairfield. Guthrie Center, Mount Pleasant, Oskaloosa, Ottumwa, Perry, Red Oak, Shenandoah and Washington.
