IOWA CITY — Police took one person into custody Sunday after a man reported being robbed in his car in Iowa City, but a second suspect remains at large.
According to official reports, police received a call at 11:31 a.m. Sunday from a man who reported being robbed in the area of First Avenue and Friendship Street. The victim told police two black men entered his car, grabbed him and took money from him.
The suspects left the scene on foot, but after a short foot chase, one suspect — a juvenile — was taken into custody. He faces a charge of second-degree robbery, and more charges are possible, police said.
The second suspect remains at large, police said, and a reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Iowa City CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are held in strict confidence and anonymity is guaranteed.
