One person taken to hospital after fire at Iowa City home
IOWA CITY — One person was taken to a hospital following a fire at an Iowa City home Sunday morning.
According to a news release, fire crews were called to 1609 Brookwood Drive in Iowa City at 4:10 a.m. Sunday for a reported fire. Crews found a fire in the home's basement and extinguished it within 20 minutes.
The home's only occupant had exited before firefighters arrived, and was evaluated at the scene before being taken to a hospital.
The home sustained an estimated $50,000 in damage, officials said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
