One person dead in I-380 crash in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS — A 19-year-old woman died Friday night in a rollover crash on Interstate 380 in Cedar Rapids.

Police were called to I-380 northbound near the Seventh Street NE bridge at 10:51 p.m. Friday. The vehicle was off the road, overturned, and the driver — Jessica Youngton, of Cedar Rapids — was dead, according to a news release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department.

Witnesses told police the vehicle crossed several lanes of traffic on the interstate, struck a guardrail, rolled and came to a stop under the bridge, the release states. No other vehicles were damaged and no other injuries were reported.

Police closed I-380 northbound for several hours to respond to the crash and conduct their investigation, the release states. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
