One marijuana charge dismissed from Iowa City bar incident

UPDATE: A charge of possession of a controlled substance against a 26-year-old woman accused of using marijuana while inside an Iowa City bar  in April has been dismissed, Iowa court records indicate.

Police arrested Rachel D. Goldberg, of Illinois, and Robert G. Schert, 47, of Minnesota for allegedly possessing and using marijuana inside the Yacht Club, 13 S. Linn Street, while conducting a bar check on April 3 in Iowa City.

The charge against Goldberg was dismissed Sept. 12. Schert's arraignment is scheduled to take place Sept. 29.

Officers said they approached the back of the bar and found Schert holding a small, metal pipe which he pocketed as officers approached. Police said they confiscated two “one-hitter” pipes and two small, wooded boxes that contained the drug.
