Two people were thrown from a pickup that rolled off Highway 151 and into a farm field Tuesday, authorities said.
Zackary R. Morrison, 19, of Marion, was driving west near Hindman Road when the pickup left the roadway, entered the north ditch and then crossed back over all four lanes of traffic and the median, according to the Linn County sheriff's office. He and the lone passenger, MaKenzi A. Scott, 19, of Marion, were ejected in the crash, which was reported at 4:13 a.m.
Scott suffered serious injuries and was flown by air ambulance to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, authorities said. Morrison was transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators concluded that the pickup rolled several times before coming to rest in the harvested corn field. Sgt. Richard Yoder said in a news release authorities were not certain if seat belts were being worn.
An investigation was continuing and charges were pending, authorities said.
