Olin teacher under investigation for sexual abuse

A teacher at Olin Consolidated Schools is under investigation after being accused of sexually assaulting a student.

No charges have yet been filed, and a name will not be released unless that occurs, the Jones County Sheriff's Office said.

Superintendent Jayne Richardson said a teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation proceeds.

The district, in south-central Jones County, has a total enrollment of about 220 students.
