Officer Tim Davis finalist for national award

Cedar Rapids police officer Tim Davis is now one of eight finalists for the "America's Most Wanted" All Star award. He is in elite company, with more than 1,100 nominations from around the country.

It's been more than a year since Davis suffered a life-threatening brain injury while confronting a robbery suspect. He is now working 3 1/2 hours a day, doing data entry and investigating minor property crimes. It's still unknown whether he'll be able to return to work as a full-time officer.

“We didn't expect Tim to be alive today, let alone return to work,” Police Chief Greg Graham said. “I won't rule out anything yet. I know that Tim will always be a part of this department. We'll have to wait and see at what capacity.”
